Global Constructions was established in Mendi, Southern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea in 1993 by prominent businessman Mr. Francis Awesa and Mick Jepson.
Global Constructions has since undergone a rapid expansion to become a major civil construction contractor for a wide range of civil services throughout Papua New Guinea.
The company now owns and operates over 300 items of plant ranging in heavy earthworks and quarry operations, to bitumen chip sealing applications.
Over the years, the company has built a solid reputation for providing quality, timely workmanship and pioneering the application of innovative technologies in an ever changing and demanding environment. The company has grown to become one of the major, locally owned, construction companies in Papua New Guinea.
The company has worked in most regions within Papua New Guinea, and knows the various challenges that each respective environment holds, and has a team of staff that are able to handle the various challenges to ensure the client achieves the expected outcome.
In the third quarter of 2009 the company went through a major shareholding change as Mr. Awesa decided to pursue his successful political career. The changes to the shareholding now mean that the company is now wholly owned by Mr. Jepson, the company still remains a 100% locally owned company, given that Mr. Jepson is a naturalised PNG citizen.
The company remains focused on providing the same quality service to its clients as before, various changes in regards to structure have been implemented and will be rolled out before the start of 2010, an extensive safety programme for its staff has also commenced and will be well underway for 2010 as well as the company implementing medical programmes for its staff.
Global Constructions is committed to developing Papua New Guinea, not only by way of assisting in infrastructure development but more importantly by promoting and educating its local workforce. Various changes included the promotion of various Papua New Guineans to key management positions within the company in line with its internal policies and beliefs.
We intend to create a culture within the company whereby all employees play a key part in the daily operation of the business, we want and encourage our staff to take ownership of the company and be part of what the company achieves moving forwards.
